Cherry Creek Basin Watershed

Members of the Cherry Creek Basin Authority include Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority, the Town of Castle Rock, Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District, Meridian Metropolitan District, the City of Aurora, the City of Greenwood Village, and Douglas County. The authority was granted by statute the power to set fees, assess a mill levy (not to exceed one-half mill) and issue bonds.

Cherry Creek Basin Watershed Map

The Cherry Creek Reservoir watershed extends from the headwaters of East and West Cherry Creek in El Paso County to the outlet of Cherry Creek Reservoir. It is primarily in Arapahoe and Douglas counties with small portions in Elbert and El Paso counties. The Technical Appendix to the DRCOG Metro Vision 2020 Clean Water Plan for this watershed was approved by the Water and Environment Planning Committee on April 27, 2007. The Technical Appendix describes the water quality of the watershed, steps being taken to protect that water quality, and the wastewater treatment facilities serving the watershed. The Technical Appendix is available here.
