 Mile High Compact

Signing Ceremony Aug. 11, 2000

mile high signing

The Mile High Compact is a voluntary agreement among Denver metro area cities and counties to manage growth throughout the region by adhering to the principles outlined in Metro Vision. The landmark agreement, unique in the nation, was achieved through a joint effort of the Metro Mayors Caucus and DRCOG in 2000.

Metro Vision, the Denver region's long-range growth plan, identifies where transportation investments will be made, where growth is expected to occur and how the region will attain water and air quality standards over the next 20 years.

As of June 2010, 45 communities representing more than 88.8 percent of the region's population have signed the agreement. Take a look at the Mile High Compact Map (06/2010)that shows all of the jurisdictions in the region that have signed the Compact.

See the DRCOG newsletter coverage of the Aug. 11, 2000, celebratory signing event for the original 30 cities and counties.
