DRCOG renews Strategic Planning Partnership with ULI Colorado
On July _, 2007, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the Colorado District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI Colorado) renewed their agreement to work together to stimulate informed dialogue on transit-oriented development (TOD).
The most visible aspect of the partnership will be the merger of two highly successful ULI committees. The TODay Committee has merged with the TOD Best Practices Committee. Future TOD Best Practices workshops will incorporate a 90-minute "after class" session.
These after class sessions will provide local government staff and elected officials with the ability to engage national experts at a deeper level than the typical panel discussion allows - similar to the discussion that took place at the TODay workshops.
"Through our partnership with ULI Colorado, we stimulated much needed dialogue, enabled the development of new ideas, fostered collaboration, and moved the region further up the TOD learning curve," according to Tom Boone, TOD project manager for DRCOG.
The first ULI Best Practices workshop incorporating the "after class" sessions for the public sector is tentatively scheduled for September 2007. Stay tuned to the DRCOG Web site and this newsletter for more information as it becomes available.
