Are you interested in learning about the characteristics of your region's population? We offer detailed information from the 2000 U.S. Census on demographic characteristics.

Additionally, we provide annual population estimates and forecasts.

Population Estimates

Annual estimates are calculated for population, group quarters, and housing units.

DRCOG is currently reevaluating its methodology for generating population estimates. Therefore, we will not be releasing 2008 estimates at this time. If you have any questions you may contact Jennifer Newcomer at 303-480-5639.

Population and Household Forecasts

DRCOG produces county level population and household forecasts. These forecasts are created from DRCOG’s socioeconomic allocation model. The model is a long run forecast with a forecasting horizon of 2035 with a 2005 base. The allocation model does not forecast the interim years. These projections are obtained by interpolating the forecasting horizon and the base year. The model is periodically updated to reflect changes in transportation and land use assumptions.

Comparisons between 1990 and 2000 Census

Detailed comparisons are available that summarize the area's demographic changes between 1990 and 2000. The summaries compare socioeconomic characteristics of population, households, poverty status and transportation-related factors.
