Metro Vision 2035 Plan

Metro Vision is the Denver region's plan for future growth, development, transportation, environmental quality and water quality management. Metro Vision 2035 is the current regional plan adopted Dec. 19, 2007 by the DRCOG Board of Directors.

The entire plan is available for download. For ease in downloading the full plan, it is split into separate files.

This report provides an overview of challenges and opportunities facing our region, and DRCOG actions to address these issues.

Measuring Progress: Regional Performance Measures and Indicators (05/2008) evaluates progress our region has made toward Metro Vision goals in growth and development, transportation, and environment. The report includes 23 indicators, each scored as moving in a positive direction (up arrow), negative direction (down arrow), or neutral (sideways arrow).

Metro Vision 2030
Metro Vision 2030 is a long-range plan to manage growth within the Denver area. It addresses development, transportation needs and environmental quality. Bringing communities together to enhance the region's quality of life is the plan's most important goal. Adopted in January 2005. Free.

Measuring Progress: Regional Performance Measures and Indicators (04/2005) This report represents the first attempt to gauge progress on Metro Vision. The report measures achievements on the major principles of the Metro Vision plan, along with some assessments for the region's overall quality of life. The report is structured along the major sections of the plan, with indicators for growth and development, transportation and the environment. An additional section describes socioeconomic changes in the region, such as population growth and employment. Published in April 2005. Free.

2007 DRCOG State of the Region
This report provides a comprehensive snapshot of conditions across the entire metropolitan area. The report reviews the region's current trajectory on key regional metrics: our economy, population and housing, transportation, the environment, and changing demographics. The report explores a six-year window, from 2004 to 2009. The look back provides an understanding of the current state of the region, while the forecasts offer strategic insight into how current trends are likely to unfold over the coming years.

Planning for Safer Communities: Improving Community Disaster Resilience through Natural Hazard Mitigation in the Denver Region
This special report was prepared for local officials to help better prepare their communities to withstand the effects of natural hazards. The booklet contains information about how to use community-planning practices to make safer communities. It describes example projects by communities in the Denver region that have been funded by hazard mitigation grants. Published in 2005. Free.

Regulatory Strategies for Encouraging Infill and Redevelopment
This report provides information for local governments on regulatory strategies that could support infill and redevelopment in their communities. It describes the process of assessing and adjusting zone districts to better facilitate infill and redevelopment. Mixed-use zoning codes and overlay districts are described, and local and national examples of each are provided. It also addresses assessing and modifying building codes.

This report records the original vision statement, and development principles and policies used to guide the growth of the region over the next 20 to 30 years. This report takes a look at the metro area's urban growth boundary. The report answers questions about how existing and future annexations relate to the urban growth boundary.Published in 1999. $2.
