We live in a very mobile society. The activities of the households and businesses that reside in the Denver area are, quite literally, driving our economy.
People and goods move in many different ways through space and time. Seemingly simple events like the daily deliveries of fresh milk to our neighborhood grocery stores are the result of a series of complex and carefully-timed business actions. Other movements happen over much longer periods of time. Businesses may relocate to avoid traffic congestion. Families move to find homes that better suit their evolving needs.
- Worker Commuting Patterns. Data released recently by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Federal Highway Administration provides comprehensive information on commuting patterns across our region. DRCOG has summarized this information by community, and it's available for download (PDF format).
- Typical Travel Day Summary. A summary of typical statistics for the years 2005 and 2035 (PDF format).
-
Regional Travel Behavior Inventory. DRCOG has results of its travel behavior inventory. Surveys conducted as part of the late 1990s effort reveal the nature of travel that occurs in the Denver region. It remains the most current comprehensive examination of travel in the Denver region (PDF format).
