I am writing to encourage DRCOG to vote
against the proposed Jefferson Parkway
toll road. I live in Applewood in
unincorporated Jefferson County east of
Golden. I have followed this
controversial proposal for several years,
and strongly believe it does not reflect
good transportation planning and will
increase congestion on roads I use by
people not wanting to use the tolled
road. In particular, I drive and bicycle
Highway 93, which already has twice the
state's average fatality rate, and the
Jefferson Parkway Highway Authority's
own data shows traffic on 93 will
increase dramatically.... I just don't see
that this is a rational plan for improving
transportation in the northwest
quadrant. There are better plans out
there that will truly serve the public
interest.
