Comment By Richard Gardner For Regional Transportation Plan, Metro Vision Comment I am a Golden area historian and preservationist who has spent considerable time studying the general Highway 93 vicinity as relates to potential transportation items in the future. In my assessment it is important to ensure in any future plans and visions that the historic resources I have mentioned in this article are preserved in the future. Some, such as the Leyden shaft ruins, may be particularly vulnerable to destruction. I highly encourage that these historic places be kept for future generations to know and appreciate, and that future plans be willing to reflect the heritage of this important region of Jefferson County.
