DRCOG’s building decarbonization team has launched a new subaward to help the organization’s 59 member governments fund building decarbonization policies.

Jurisdictional Support Subaward Program has $34.8 million to help member governments adopt and implement building decarbonization policies to improve building energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The awards will help local governments implement electric-preferred energy codes by 2030, streamlining heat pump permitting, benchmarking policies and other policies.

Local governments may use the subaward to hire and train staff, for technical assistance, for permitting and systems support, for community engagement efforts and to support climate pollution reduction from the building sector.

The subawards are part of the nearly $200 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants.

Interested parties can apply at the Jurisdictional Subaward overview.
